Cyprus Poker Network Final report
The first ever Cyprus Poker Network league came to an exciting end last Tuesday as the top 20 players from the league took part in the grand final. Much to the credit of all the players involved the final was an exciting affair with all twenty players taking part.
Previous league game winner Lapta Lout was out first in 20th and it was obvious everyone was out to win the title. As there were no bounties on myself or appleinsider this time I was hoping to fair a little better than in previous games. Although I started not too badly (CypusPete) I was out of the tournament all too soon and finished in a ‘sort of’ respectable 9th place. One good thing, was I finished above Kim (appleinsider) who was out in 12th.
The tournament was played in a great atmosphere and I will be looking forward to playing against some of these guys (and gals) in the future.
As players fell by the wayside, the action moved on to the final table. Some big names from previous tournaments showed why they have consistently finished well in every league game. Down to the last 3 and a big cheap lead by Stacey002 made it impossible for jytno1 and l4aspider to do anything but fight for second place -leaving Stacey to mop up the loose chips and the Cyprus Poker Network league champion 2009/2010 title.
Well done to Stacey002, in the end a deserved winner. A big thanks must also go to PokerTime for their help in making the first CPN league a reality. A great Pokerroom and some nice guys too!
We’ll be back very soon with some exciting events, in the meantime if you are in North Cyprus and play poker there are 2 great places to find a game. Every Thursday in Alsancak, One week at Taj Mahal, the next at 15’s there is a friendly (no money involved but the players take it seriously enough) game held.
(Some of the players involved played in our tournament so we know the standard is high!)
