WSOP Winner 2009 – Joe Cada
Cada is the WSOP 2009 main event champion.
It is fair to say Joe Cada is at a good point in his life. The Michigan Poker player has just become the youngest ever WSOP main event champion in Las Vegas and to go with the title he wins a cool $8.5million (The previous youngest was last years champ Peter Eastgate).
Not a bad day at the office for a guy from Shelby Township. Darvin Moon a logger from Maryland came home second, the consolation prize was $5.18 million.
Things weren’t looking quite so bright for Cada 48hrs previously when the November Nine players made their way on to the stage at the Penn and Teller theatre inside the Rio Casino in Vegas. Starting the final table in 5th place out of nine meant it was always going to be a tough ride for Cada. After a stunning performance yesterday he took a big chip lead into todays heads up. However, Moon fought back quickly today and soon found himself even in chips with Joe. and the lead shifted from player to player over the course of the final 3 hours.
In the end it was Moons Queen and Jack of Diamonds against Joe’s pair of nines and when the board hit 872 K 7 Cada was the new WSOP champ.
Interestingly while Cada will regularly play 10 games at once online, 2nd place Moon has NEVER played a game online, in fact he doesn’t even own a computer or have an email!
