2009 Pokerstars.com EPT Warsaw winner Christophe Benzimra
So there we are, its all over for the EPT Warsaw 2009.
Its been a fantastic Poker tournament in Warsaw and the final day has not been a disappointment. French Poker Pro Christophe Benzimra takes the title after a closely fought and exciting battle tonight in Poland.
Here is a run down of how it happened:
First of the day to go was Anatoly Gurtovoy in 8th (€32,082) losing with AQ against Oleksanr Vaserfirer‘s pair of Jacks.
Next was Alexander Klimashin in 7th (€44,687), his 9′s losing to AK from Christophe Benzimra.
Out in 6th was Clayton Mozdzen (€56,144)one time tournament leader could go no further in Warsaw his AK walking straight into Alfio Battisti’s pocket rockets. We didn’t have to wait too much longer before Ukranian Ruslan Prydryk was on his way from the table. out in 5th place he picked up €71,041.
All in with a pair of queens, he came up against Vaserfirer’s pair of aces, and Christophe Benzimra with a pair of Jacks. In a 3 way pot a Jack on the flop sealed his fate.
Cyprus Poker Network favourite Luca Pagano came in a very fine 4th place and although Luca is still without a major tournament title, his 4th place takes him to the top of the EPT World rankings leaderboard. The €85,938 in prize money will also be a small consolation to the popular Italian.
Oleksanr Vaserfirer, favoured by many to take the title finished the tournament in 3rd place. His A8 not able to find a better card than the other final table Italian Alfio Battisti‘s AK.
So there it was, off to dinner and the heads up battle was on: After some to-ing and fro-ing of chips
Christophe Benzimra took the title with pocket A7. When three clubs came on the flop A7 + 5. Alfio Battisti holding the King of clubs could not resist the urge. The turn came up 8 of hearts and then the river 5 of hearts meaning the Frenchman took the title and Alfio Battisti came in second taking home €200,520.
